Youth Orchestra Auditions

Auditions for the Belleville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra are held on September 4th. Both new and returning musicians must audition to determine parts. Students need to bring their own music based on selections of their choice and the below criteria. The registration fee is $75 with $60 for additional family members. There is a prorated amount of $50 for youth joining after the December concert. There are three concerts throughout the season.

All auditions are 10 minutes long and will be held at the Philharmonic Hall, 116 N Jackson St, Belleville, IL 62220. Please arrive 10 minutes early to warm up and prepare for your audition. Audition Guidelines:

1. All musicians will play a short excerpt of their choice highlighting technique and musicality. The musician provides music and need not be memorized.
2. Non-percussionists should be able to play 2-octave major scales up to 4 sharps and four flats, if possible.
3. Percussionists will play a piece from their repertoire on as many instruments as possible.
4. All seating will be at the discretion of the conductor, Mr. Christopher Gass.
5. Auditions can also be scheduled throughout the year.

Rehearsals are Mondays, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Belleville Philharmonic Hall – 116 North Jackson Belleville, IL.
