A Grand Romance

Join us for the opening concert of the Belleville Philharmonic’s 157th Concert Season, with conductor Joseph Choi and guest artist May Phang.

Our concert, A Grand Romance, features iconic selections from the glorious Romantic Era.
The showcase piece is Brahms joyful and radiant Symphony #2, highlighting the broadest variety of orchestral sounds. We pay tribute to the great unrequited romance of classical music by coupling this Brahms masterpiece with the masterful Piano Concerto in A minor by Clara Wieck Schumann. The program opens with the rousing Ruslan and Ludmila Overture by Glinka. We are also performing a regional premier of a composition composed by Emmanuel Sikora, who we previously hosted as part of our Great Pianists of the World recital Series.
