Come Play With Us

We welcome musicians and vocalists to join us throughout the season as positions are available. Prospective members will briefly audition to verify experience and help determine placement. Note that the Philharmonic is made up of volunteer ensembles and that, apart from music directors, permanent paid positions are not available.

• The Orchestra has regular continuing need for string players in all sections. Wind positions are generally filled at the beginning of each season, but openings do occur and we maintain a dynamic list of substitute players. For audition prepare at least one solo work to highlight your abilities. You will also be asked to sightread from the current season literature.
• The Chorale seeks experienced singers in all voices. Applicants must be able to read music. Auditions will ask the candidate to vocalize for the conductor and discuss prior choral experience.
• Youth Orchestra auditions are traditionally held at the beginning of the school year and again at the beginning of the calendar year. However, interested parties may complete this form as a record of interest.
• The Summer Intergenerational Orchestra is open to all musicians without any audition requirement. The signup is available seasonally on the Intergenerational Orchestra Page

The Belleville Philharmonic Society strives for performance excellence and sometimes performs for a paying audience. Regular rehearsal attendance is expected. However, it is understood that participants are volunteers and that personal obligations may necessitate occasional absences.
