Seventeenth Annual George N. Tuerck Competition 

Competition date: Saturday, April 11, 2015

Open to all youth musicians up to 11th grade who live in the Belleville metropolitan area

Musicians are welcome to audition any time during the year.

Audition Guidelines:

1.  All musicians will play a short excerpt highlighting technique and musicality.

2.  Non-percussionists should be able to play 2 octave major scales up to and including 4 sharps and 4 flats.

3.  Percussionists will play a piece from their repertoire on as many instruments as possible.

4.  All seating will be at the discretion of the conductor, Dr. Leon Burke.

       Welcome to the Belleville      Philharmonic Youth Orchestra!

The purpose of the Belleville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, which is one of the three performing ensembles of the Belleville Philharmonic Society,  is to:

1.     Provide an opportunity for young musicians to achieve musical competence by studying and performing quality orchestral literature before audiences.

2.     Provide musical opportunities for all young people in the Metro-East area and to inspire them with a love of music. 

3.     Encourage and challenge their talent to promote a desire to go beyond what is comfortable and achieve what is possible.

4.     Provide musical educational opportunities available to the Metro-East community for all.
